Dr. Bouchet is currently Distinguished Global Finance Professor at SKEMA Business School and Strategy Adviser of investment funds. He was Chief Strategist of North Sea-Global Equity Management until 2016.
M.H. Bouchet has been Scientific Director of the Master of Science in International Finance (ranked n°9 by the Financial Times in 2011) at CERAM-Sophia Antipolis, as well as Coordinator of the Global Finance Center. Dr.Bouchet was the manager of the new campus in the technology park of Suzhou (China) in 2009. He specializes in country risk assessment and international financial issues. He initiated the first MOOC of SKEMA in 2014 tackling the challenges of Globalization (https://www.udemy.com/globalizationskema) as well as the Country Risk Assessment MOOC in 2017.
M.H. Bouchet started his career with the Secrétariat Général de la Défense Nationale. He has then held high-level positions in international banking, including at BNP (Country risk management deputy manager), the World Bank (Senior Economist) and the Institute of International Finance in Washington, D.C. In 1990, he moved on to form Owen Stanley Financial SA which he served as its CEO. The company, a specialized advisory firm dealing with debt restructuring strategy in emerging markets, became a subsidiary of ING Barings. Until end-2001, he was Principal Advisor of ING Barings.
M.H. Bouchet has been International Affiliate Professor at ESAN (Lima) and Visiting Lecturer at ESCP-CFVG (Vietnam) and at ESC-Sfax (Tunisia), as well as being a regular speaker in China at Zhejiang and Suzhou Universities, in business corporate meetings and international conferences. In 2005 he was Visiting Scholar at the School of Management of the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand). He is Reviewer of the International Business Review and on the international editorial Board of Journal of Economics, Finance and Administrative Science. He is also Expert Witness in international arbitrage courts. Dr. Bouchet is member of Association Française d’Economie Politique, of Association d’Economie Financière, and of Transparency International, as well as participating in the research team of College des Bernadins.
Dr Bouchet graduated in Economics from the University of Paris-X and from the Paris Institut d’Etudes Politiques. He also holds a Master and a Ph.D in International Relations from USC, Columbia, USA. He got his HDR from Université Paris-Dauphine. He has published extensively, incl. “Political Economy of Sovereign Debt” (Greenwood), “Country Risk Assessment” (Wiley 2003, with Clark & Groslambert), “Gestion et Finance Internationales” (co-author Pearson 2004), “La Globalisation-Introduction à l’Economie du Nouveau Monde” (Pearson 2005), “Intelligence Economique et Gestion des Risques” (Pearson 2007, with Alice Guilhon), “La Deuda de la Naciones” (FELABAN-Bogota) and “Riesgo-Pais: un enfoque latino-americano” (ESAN-PERU 2007), as well as the novel “Les Nuits Blanches” (L’Harmattan-Paris). His upcoming publication in 2018 is “Country Risk Management in the Age of Globalization”, with Palgrave-MacMillan.
